You might not know that prior to 1969, SIDS didn't exist. Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) is a diagnosis of exclusion used to describe the unexplained deaths of apparently healthy infants, primarily during sleep.
It was in 1969 that Dr. Bruce Beckwith first defined SIDS as "the sudden death of any infant or young child, which is unexpected by (medical) history, and in which a thorough postmortem examination fails to demonstrate an adequate cause for death". It's since been accepted by the scientific and medical community that the causes of SIDS are unknowable and the pathway in the body that causes the death is indeterminable.
While modern medicine classifies SIDS as a “mystery,” its historical emergence, epidemiological patterns, and geographic spread raise big questions.
Prior to the 20th century, medical texts make no mention of a pattern of healthy infants mysteriously dying in their sleep, and no mention of unsafe sleeping environments as a cause of death for babies. Deaths due to infections, malnutrition, and poor sanitation were well-documented, but the phenomenon of sudden unexplained deaths in healthy infants is absent from medical records.
This means that for thousands of years, SIDS was not considered a medical entity—yet within decades, it became a leading cause of infant death in developed nations.
If SIDS was truly a natural and random phenomenon caused by self-suffocation and unsafe sleeping, we would expect historical records across all societies to document it at least once. But the timeline suggests that SIDS only appeared after widespread medical interventions in infant care—most notably, mass vaccination programs.
From 1950 to 1960, the United State's routine infant vaccination programs expanded, with DTP (Diphtheria, Tetanus, Pertussis) being widely administered. Around the same time, the first clusters of "unexplained" infant deaths were reported.
As the U.S. vaccine schedule grew, so did SIDS cases. By the early 1980s, SIDS had become the leading cause of post-neonatal infant death in America. The "Back to Sleep" campaign was launched in 1994, and SIDS cases were reported to have declined by over 50%—but simultaneously, reports of "accidental suffocation" and "unknown causes of death" increased at the exact same amounts, meaning there was just a reclassification of cases rather than an actual reduction in sudden infant deaths.
The vaccine schedule has continued to expand, with infants now receiving 26 doses by the time they turn one - and SIDS remains a top cause of infant dead in America, although its classification has become more ambiguous.
The SIDS phenomena began in America, but as national immunization programs were introduced in the 1970s-1980s, SIDS rates in countries around the world also increased in a manner similar to the U.S.
Historically, nations without robust vaccine programs did not report significant cases of SIDS, but as WHO and UNICEF expanded their infant vaccination efforts, SIDS began to emerge in countries where it was previously unheard of.
Interestingly enough, in 1975 Japan raised the DTP vaccine age from 2 months to 2 years, and the country saw an immediate and dramatic reduction in SIDS cases.

Attempts To Pin SIDS On Anything But The Vaccines
The Insanity of Unsafe Sleeping as a Cause of Death
The idea that otherwise healthy infants are mysteriously dying due to sleeping positions, bedding materials, or co-sleeping habits defies logic, historical precedent, and physiological reality. The emergence of "cot death" only in the modern era, its rise alongside mass infant vaccination, and its absence in cultures where "unsafe" sleeping should be most prevalent all point to an alternative cause—one that has been deliberately ignored.
If "unsafe sleeping" conditions were truly a cause of mass infant mortality, societies throughout history—many of which practiced bed-sharing, swaddling, and varied sleeping environments—would have documented this pattern. Many cultures around the world, particularly in Africa, Asia, and South America, have long practiced co-sleeping, the use of blankets, and other so-called "unsafe" sleep habits without any historical recognition of sudden unexplained infant deaths.
While our medical establishment warns against co-sleeping, arguing that it increases the risk of suffocation and death, these same "dangerous" sleeping conditions do not lead to a SIDS epidemic in societies that practice them. But if "unsafe sleeping" were truly responsible for a significant percentage of unexplained infant deaths, we would expect widespread and consistent evidence across all cultures. The fact that SIDS arose first as a phenomenon in America raises serious questions about its true cause.
Interestingly, the official designation of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) only appeared in the 1960s, coinciding with the expansion of national and global infant vaccination programs. As countries ramped up routine immunization programs for infants, SIDS cases began to appear in medical literature. The peak risk window for SIDS (2–4 months) overlaps suspiciously with the period of multiple early-life vaccinations, particularly pertussis (whooping cough) and other combination vaccines.
Thousands of studies have shown that a significant percentage of SIDS cases occur within days of vaccination, yet this correlation has been dismissed as "coincidence" rather than systematically investigated. By attributing sudden infant deaths to sleep-related factors, the medical establishment diverts attention from the possibility of vaccine-related causes. This has created a culture of fear among parents while providing an easy explanation for unexpected post-vaccine deaths.
Parents who have lost children to sudden, unexplained deaths are given a pre-packaged answer ("SIDS") instead of a real investigation. Many never question the connection to recent medical interventions.
The truth is, pillows, blankets and stomach sleeping are not causes of death. Just like adults, infants have built-in survival mechanisms that prevent suffocation during sleep. The body's autonomic responses ensure that if breathing is obstructed, the infant will instinctively move, gasp for air, or wake up. The claim that a loose blanket or soft mattress could "silently" cause an infant to stop breathing without struggle contradicts basic human physiology. If this were possible, adults too would be at constant risk of suffocating under their own bedding.
A New SIDS Hypothesis Emerges: Parents Are Actually Killing Their Babies
By far the most insane claim around the increase of SIDS is that sudden infant deaths were actually cases where parents murdered their new babies and got away with it. One study even found that 33% of SIDS deaths were actually homicides.
What's most insidious about these claims is that they actually led to multiple grieving parents, still mourning the death of their babies, to be convinced of murder.
In the UK, multiple mothers were put in jail by the testimony of Sir Roy Meadow – who claimed that two babies dying of SIDS in the same family is statistically impossible, and thus maternal murder is the only explanation:
Now, imagine your baby getting vaccinated, starting to have seizures and no doctor believes you when you tell them that something is wrong. So you go to doctor after doctor looking to find someone that will not dismiss your claim that these problems started occurring immediately after vaccination. Then, just a year after everything began, your baby dies – and YOU are charged with homicide:
These cases had absolutely no proof of abuse, no character witnesses claiming that the baby could have been endangered by their parents – these were not Casey Anthony style killings, they were traumatized and horrified parents being convinced by a medical system which refused to acknowledge the truth. A system that preferred to incarcerate innocent parents rather that to admit vaccines could be causing the sudden death of infants.
